BRIDGE Local
Community Expectations

Updated 10/2019

1. Community Rules

By joining any BRIDGE Local Community*, you agree to abide by the rules and guidelines below:

A. Zero Tolerance Policies – Action Taken:

Failure to comply with the policies in this section will result in immediate removal from all BRIDGE Local Communities.  If you are a member of the Public Forum Facebook Group as part of a paid membership (an “Insider”), NO refund will be granted.

1. Slander or Damaging Comments

BRIDGE Local has a zero-tolerance policy for anyone who uses our platforms* to slander, insult, attempt to discredit or threaten any other member of the community, whether or not the individual/business is a participant in the Facebook group during the discussion.

When a disparaging remark is made to or about any other member of business, the issue must be reported using the Facebook tool “Report this to admins” AND a message should be sent to the BRIDGE Local Facebook page to alert us of the issue immediately. Note: The response time from the BRIDGE Local admins will be improved when a message accompanies the report.

*BRIDGE Local communities include, but are not limited to, the BRIDGE Local Public Forum, BRIDGE Local Insiders Group, BRIDGE Local websites and any other publicly accessible BRIDGE Local assets.

B. Three Strikes Policies – Action Taken:

When a post in the BRIDGE Local Community is in violation of one of the following policies, these disciplinary steps will be taken:

    1. A BRIDGE Local moderator will comment on the post explaining the violation, with a link to these guidelines. The person will be prompted to contact the BRIDGE Local Facebook page for more information, or to agree to the guidelines.

The moderator will turn off comments on the original post and toggle the user’s account to “post approval” status for 30 days.

Future posts from the same user will not be approved during this period unless contact is made with the BRIDGE moderation team via the BRIDGE Facebook page, or the BRIDGE Local team receives notification that the user has agreed to the guidelines.
    2. When the 30 days of post approval have expired, Facebook will automatically restore the user’s ability to post in the group. If the user violates any guidelines in future posts, BRIDGE Local moderators will mute the user’s account for the maximum number of days allowed by Facebook: 7 days (1 week).
    3. If a third violation occurs, the user will be permanently removed from the BRIDGE Local community.
    4. If a user, who has not agreed to these guidelines previously, has been removed from the group and wants to rejoin the group at a later date, they must contact the BRIDGE Local Facebook page, requesting to be added again. They can be approved if they agree to these guidelines.

Three Strikes Policies

  1. Be kind to one another. Respect one another. BRIDGE Local welcomes differing opinions on matters of business or community; however, when disagreeing with other members of the group, do so with the utmost respect for your peers and their beliefs.
  2. Handle disputes directly. If you have an issue, problem or complaint about another member or business, reach out to them directly and privately to seek resolution. Do not bring the dispute into the Public Forum or any other BRIDGE Local platform.
  3. Honor Intellectual Property. Plagiarized content is not allowed. We encourage original content from all participants in the BRIDGE Local communities. We also recognize the value of shared and curated content. When content is being shared, give credit to the owner of the material you are sharing from.
  4. No SPAM. Respect the members of the group. Respect their time and their energy by refraining from spamming the group or its members. Continue to honor the community by building trust and showing mutual respect to all. SPAM includes but is not limited to:
    1. Repeated, excessive posts with the sole purpose of selling, recruiting or promoting, without context or conversation.
    2. Posts including fraudulent claims, news, misleading information, etc.
    3. Irrelevant and/or inappropriate posts
  5. Promotions are for Insiders only. BRIDGE Insiders are welcome to post promotional content, but they must adhere to all other guidelines, including #4, No SPAM.
    1. Guests to the platform are not allowed to promote their businesses. Guests that promote their business more than three times, will be permanently removed from the group.
    2. If a guest has been removed from the group, they may request to rejoin the group, by sending a message to the BRIDGE Local Facebook page, or via email: connect@bridgelocal.com
  6. One business per membership. If you choose to become a BRIDGE Insider, only the business you register with will be considered an Insider on our platform and at our events. If a member has 2 businesses, that member must join under both businesses if they wish to enjoy the benefits of membership for each.
Note: Insiders may add an additional business to their current membership for $100.
  7. Buyer Beware. Many local businesses offer goods and services to other members or recommend businesses through this public forum. This does not relieve you, the buyer, of your obligation to appropriately vet the businesses you choose to do business with. At this time, the BRIDGE Team does not vet businesses in our group.

By participating in the BRIDGE Local Communities, you acknowledge that BRIDGE Local and its employees are not responsible for any breaches of contract, damages, or lost revenue that result from the connections and/or referrals made in this group.

2. Community Guidelines: Getting the most from BRIDGE Local

The following guidelines are intended for you to get the most out of your experience on this forum.

  1. Are You Right for BRIDGE? This community is designed for businesses in the local community who want to make authentic connections that will enhance the economic landscape of our area. Everyone can contribute something meaningful to the conversation – but it requires a desire to connect and a willingness to work together to make our city a better place. If you’re looking for a place to simply promote your business without connecting or supporting the community, this is not the group for you.
BRIDGE Local is not for everyone. If you do not believe this community is for you, you are free to remove yourself from the group at any time.
  2. Contribute to the conversation – “Give First” Giving is the best way to receive. When you join the forum, we recommend that you find ways to contribute to the conversation; encourage others, give generously, then, when you ask for support, you will more likely be successful in asking others to help you.
  3. Your posts may be missed.  Assume everyone in the group is very busy. Facebook may not be their top priority – and they might not see your post. While there are over 9,000 members in this community, not all of them will see your posts. The threads in the Facebook group move fast, and sometimes your posts may not receive any comments. This is not personal, but it might be a sign that you are not connecting with the other members of the group. Before you give up on us, please consider getting more involved in conversations started by other members of the group.
  4. “Buy my stuff” does not work here.  Every business owner wants to succeed. BRIDGE is an excellent way to build connections and establish a rapport with the community. If you are a BRIDGE Insider, an occasional offer or promotion is encouraged, but the sure fire way to be completely ignored is to bombard the newsfeed with repetitive sales posts.
  5. Bring Value! The key to success in BRIDGE is to bring VALUE and to become a resource for the other members so that they can learn more about you in a natural, organic, AUTHENTIC way. Consider the 80/20 rule – 80% of your posts should be relationship-building and 20% should be about promoting your business.
  6. BRIDGE is powered by its Insiders. Businesses in this group are able to receive referrals and leads without upgrading to Insider status. When using BRIDGE to select or refer a business, please consider becoming an Insider first. It’s our Insiders’ commitment to BRIDGE that makes this group successful!
  7. Stay Connected: Visit our website, Join our Email and Text Club! Our website is a valuable source of business-related content – from events, to blog posts, to trainings and recorded meetings.
  8. Subscribe to our Communications! In order to get the most out of your membership – stay connected with the activities and content that we are sharing! You can subscribe to our email newsletter from the BRIDGE Local website or opt in to our SMS Text Club by sending the text “BRIDGELocal” to 51660.
